For billions of years on planet earth, Dirt leads a simple predictable existence until humans appear. Unlike other species they express a conscious love of Dirt. And Dirt, couldn't be happier. But humans turn greedy and indifferent. They slash away at vast tracts of forests, strip the land bare for huge, single crop farms, and level entire mountains for mining. When Dirt can no longer produce what they need, they try to revive Dirt with chemicals or move onto other lands. They turn Dirt into something dirty. Unwanted. Distant. Disposable. Dirt despairs that humans are destroying themselves along with the ancient bond they share. Perhaps this fascinating species is only meant to be compost for other life forms. In a last ditch effort, Dirt searches for humans who might save the relationship. Maybe--just maybe--a few humans can reignite the love and respect that seems to be lost or forgotten before it's too late. Based on William Bryant Logan's acclaimed book, Dirt, The Ecstatic Skin Of the Earth, Dirt, The Movie! offers a new perspective on the ground beneath our feet.
