'Happy & Gay' is a gay/lesbian 'revisionist history' animation film using the 1930's b&w studio cartoon musical form, such as the 'Betty Boop' cartoons. The story follows two couples, one lesbian and one gay, who go out together for a night on the town. Conceptually, the the project's goal is to (re)create a positive, frisky an fun historical placement and recognition of gays and lesbians as main characters. It also seeks to raise questions of portrayal of the Other, stereotype and censorship. 'Happy & Gay' has a fantastic historically authentic soundtrack composed and performed by Brian Carpenter and his Ghost Train Orchestra.
