Clay Barlow is running for his life. He's being chased by a pack of dogs and the sadistic sheriff that wants him dead. Clay eludes his pursuer and stumbles upon a strange apple orchard in the middle of nowhere. Here he finds shelter with the orchard's keeper, who allows Clay to work as an apple picker. The keeper warns Clay that he must respect the rules of the orchard, which means that he cannot eat the apples and under no circumstances is he to cross the river over the hill. Clay must come to terms with his past crimes and confront a mysterious woman that haunts him in the orchard.
